Amy’s Famous Chocolate Chip Cookies

Add the following to a bowl and mix

1 stick butter
1 egg
1 C brown sugar (dark brown is best, it's chewier)
½ C sugar
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
2 ¼ C flour
½ C shortening
½ bag chocolate chips

Roll into balls and bake @ 350 for 8-10 min.

If you want to use all butter and no shortening, just up the flour to 2-1/2 C. Butter has more water than shortening, so you have to compensate. (Thank you to Matt Williams for the tip :).)
